According to The All-India School Education Survey (2016), 62% of government and low-income schools do NOT have a playground. And unfortunately, out of the existing playgrounds, many of them might be NOT even accessible for children with disabilities. It is estimated that 4 out 5 children with a disability do NOT have access to play or sports.
Umoya aims to challenge this status quo!
Umoya is building a network of safe and inclusive after-school sports spaces for children and other individuals with disabilities, offering a platform for each individual to unlock their full potential through recreational play or competitive training.
We launched our first initiative, Sportability, a one-of-a-kind Inclusive Sports Academy in partnership with Modern School, Barakhamba road
Sportability offers multi-disability sports, adapted physical literacy, and recreational play programs for all individuals – children and adults. Currently, more than 80 athletes are registered and train at Sportability. Our MVPs of the program are state teams of Blind Cricket and wheelchair cricket.
Umoya Sports is honored to partner with the Indian Blind Sports Association (IBSA), a pivotal step towards enhancing accessibility and inclusivity in sports. This collaboration aims to bolster opportunities for visually impaired athletes, fostering a more equitable sporting landscape
Umoya Sports’ is committed to supporting adaptive sports initiatives and advocating for the empowerment of athletes with disabilities. By aligning with IBSA, Umoya Sports endeavors to amplify awareness, expand participation, and elevate the standards of blind sports in India
