At Umoya, we believe in the transformative power of sports to ignite meaningful conversations, raise awareness about disabilities, and foster an inclusive culture within schools and communities. Our mission is to break down barriers and create a world where everyone, regardless of their abilities, can participate in and enjoy the benefits of sports.
We innovate adapted sports, continuously developing and refining activities to ensure they are accessible and enjoyable for everyone. Our commitment goes beyond simply modifying existing sports; we actively design and launch new sports specifically tailored for persons with disabilities. These new sports are crafted with careful consideration of diverse needs, ensuring that they provide not only physical benefits but also enhance social interaction and personal growth.
Umoya also champions inclusive education by initiating conversations and promoting early childhood education in anganwadis. By introducing adapted sports and play-based learning in these early education centers, we aim to nurture inclusivity from a young age. This approach not only aids in the physical and cognitive development of children but also instills values of empathy, teamwork, and acceptance
Umoya Sports under the aegis of ‘The Umoya Foundation’ partnered with Powerlinks Transmission Limited for the PayAutention, a flagship program of Tata Power Community Development Trust (TPCDT). The program is dedicated to empowering parents, caregivers, Anganwadi workers, and teachers to become primary therapists. The program focuses on early intervention for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), addressing core deficits effectively.
The Umoya Foundation designed the program to equip parents and teachers on building foundational understanding, identification of Developmental disorders with the focus on Autism and provide them with tools to empower children with disabilities in their home and class environment using play based early intervention methods.
Khul Ja Sim Sim – at Home Play-Based Learning Toolkit: As part of these learning programs and workshops, Umoya developed a unique ‘Khul Ja Sim Sim’ Home-based play and educational toolkit for children with neurodiversity. It has accessible home-based training modules which can be used to conduct home based therapeutic sessions and enable children to access quality physical and mental wellbeing programs.
